GALLERY I: OLD MOON LULLABY
|
My interest in multi-cultural traditions,
legends and folklore evolves gradually into a personal mythology,
constantly developing, and expressed in an array of art images and
materials. Old Moon Lullaby includes a number of large paintings. The
more I delve into painting the more it becomes an adventure. Like
entering into pristine wilderness, filled with promises, charged with
possibilities. When I start painting, I have a vague idea of what it may
become but I let it unfold as it would, to turn out to be something
completely new, unseen before, unknown by me. Then it becomes a
revelation. In this project I work on several paintings at the same
time. I paint a layer on a canvas and let it dry. I live with a
layer for a while and look at it until I figure out the direction the
next layer will go. In the process, a meaning unfolds, a multi layered
undeniable meaning. Finally the painting acquires a life of its own and
I do not dare to touch it anymore. Then it reveals its name and
attains a title. The work has poetic element. Like in
a poem every image in a painting
resonates with meaning, and the connection
between the parts create a presence that
can expand endlessly. |
